Forest Fitness

Essential Oils and Cooking

April 9th at 6 p.m. at the Effingham Library. Essential oils aren’t just for the spa and diffusers anymore! Certain oils can be incredibly useful in the kitchen. Learn how you can incorporate them into your cooking with Sara Holmes.

Sara Holmes, BS, RA, LMT, NCBTMB, is a Registered Aromatherapist, a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist. Sara is also a NCBTMB approved provider with more than 10 years of experience in healthcare. She has a bachelor’s degree in organizational management, is the owner of Botanical Healing Arts, a contributing writer for the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy and teaches at several community colleges throughout central Illinois. 20th Annual Children’s Art Show

Easter Egg Hunt                        

April 19th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the First Christian Church, at 901 N. Henrietta St. in Effingham. There will be an Easter Egg Hunt for children 6th graders and under. Meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. and bring a sack to collect eggs in. Enter the back door to the church on the West side of the building. International Table Top day – Family Games Day

Monthly Beginner Crochet

April 27th from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Fresh Digs. All beginner levels are welcome. She’ll teach you individually and at your pace. She’ll only cover what you’re ready for. Boys Khoury League

April 29th for boys in grades 3rd – 4th. Khoury League is your child’s first experience with baseball competition. The teams are formed by a draft system. Level 10 baseballs are used and the pitching and base distances are 46′ and 60′ respectively. Please list current grade on registration form. Registrations accepted through March 1st. We will accept registrations after March 1st if there is room in the league. Fee: $35 for people in the district and $65 for outside the district. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed after that date. Artisan Fair  

May 3rd & 4th in Downtown Effingham. It’s that time of year again.  The Vision 2020 Art, Culture and Leisure committee is planning the 14th annual Effingham Artisan Fair.  The committee is working hard to bring you the best fair ever this year. With your support, we can do just that! 

We hope you’ll join us to kick off the fair on Friday night where Artisans will be setup and ready to sell their art at 5:00pm.  We’ll also feature several not-for-profits on the lawn to educate the public on all our community groups have to offer. This year we will have Wine/Beer and Bourbon tasting and live music. It’s sure to be a great evening to unwind and visit with friends in downtown Effingham.  This year you will be able to shop and sip at the same time.  And as always, there will be a large selection of food for purchase.

FRIDAY

Artisan selling their art at 5:00pm.

Wine/Beer/Bourbon Tasting at 5:00pm – Music throughout the night in the Tasting Area.

The Community Support Systems (CSS) will be holding their Annual Art Auction Friday night at 6:30pm . There are CSS clients that have been working on their masterpieces for you bid on. 100% of the proceeds are used to fund the Art Program at CSS.

SATURDAY

The fair will open at 10:00 am on Saturday morning with our artisans ready to sell their wares. There will be live music all day and food available for purchase.  The family can also participate in the Kids Korner for free, where children will be able to enjoy “make and take crafts.”  Wine/Beer and Bourbon tasting will continue from 11:00 am  to 4:00 pm on Saturday. Rock For Kids 2019

May 6th at Evergreen Hollow Park Fast Pitch Diamonds for girls in grades 2nd – 3rd.   This is the first league where girls pitch themselves. Pitching distance is 35′ and 11″ softballs are used. We will accept registrations after March 1st if there is room in the league. Fee: $35 for people in the district and $65 outside of the district. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed after that date. Pony League

May 15th at Gene Niccum Field in Community Park for boys in second grade. The season begins as a coach-pitch league, but once every team has played a few games, the teams have the option of having players pitch to prepare them for the more advanced leagues. Level 5 baseballs are used and the pitching and base distances are 46′ and 60′ respectively. Coaches and park district athletic director work together to form teams. Please list current grade on registration form. Registrations accepted through March 1st. Fee: $35 if you reside in the district and $65 out of district. Boys Jr Babe Ruth League

May 28th at Community Park Paul Smith Field for boys in grades 8th – 10th. Teams are formed by a draft system. Regulation baseballs are used. Pitching distance is 60′ 6″ and bases are 90′. Please list current grade on registration form. Registrations accepted through March 1st. We will accept registrations after March 1st if there is room in the league. May 28th at Evergreen Hollow Park for boys in 7th grade. Games are played at Evergreen Park with one or two games being played at Teutopolis Junior High. Pitching distance is 54′ and bases are 80′. We will accept registrations after March 1st if there is room in the league. Fee: $35 for people in the district and $65 outside the district. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed after that date. T-Ball League               

June 1st for 4 & 5 year old boys and girls (must be 4 by June 1st) at Evergreen Hollow Park or Community Park. T-Ball develops the primary baseball skills of hitting, fielding and throwing. Official tee-balls are used and the bases are 50′. This is a coach-pitch league and all games are played on Saturday mornings. Registrations accepted through April 26th. We will accept registrations after April 20th if there is room in the league. A $10.00 late fee will be assessed after that date. Fee: $25 In District (must reside in city), $57 Out of District.
