Children’s Story Time

C.A.R.E. Club

3rd Thursday of every month, 4-6pm at Douglas-Hart Nature Center. Ages 12-17 – Free

Douglas-Hart Nature Center is looking for members for our new Caring for Animals with Respect and Education (C.A.R.E.) Club! C.A.R.E. Club members will learn basic care and handling skills for turtles, salamanders, rabbits, and more! Member who meet volunteer goals will earn a free t-shirt and become Certified Animal Handlers at DHNC.

LifeSpan Center Movies

Monday-Friday at 1pm at the LifeSpan Center.  Free family movies like Astro Boy, Daddy Day Care, The Pink Panther, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Mary Poppins Returns, Megamind, Princess and the Frog and more!  See the full line-up at www.lifespancenter.org, click on “connections”.

Operation Gratitude

2nd Monday every month at the LifeSpan Center 9-10am.  Operation Gratitude is a pen pal program for our military!  Personal letters of thanks will be sent every month to deployed, veterans, new recruits, and first responders.

Card Games at LifeSpan Center

Every Wednesday 1-3:30pm at the LifeSpan Center.  All ages, skills, games welcome! Cards and light refreshments will be provided.  For more info call 639-5150, transportation provided by Dial-A-Ride by calling 639-5169

18th Street Farmers’ Market

Saturdays Only – 8 am to noon, Coles County Health Dept. Parking Lot (Charleston)

The primary focus for the market is fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and homemade items (as space permits). Live music will be scheduled, adding to the festive atmosphere! WEIU Kids Day

SACIS Community Day

Lincoln Log Cabin Harvest Frolic Fall Celebration

Sept 28th, 29th 10am-4pm

Come celebrate the arrival of autumn at the Harvest Frolic. The event is free and open to the public. Activities will take place at both the Lincoln and Sargent farms and will include children’s games, craft and doll making, and hearth cooking. Visitors are encouraged to take part in period games and activities. Volunteers will demonstrate apple cider pressing, and food preservation. A number of artisans will be on site demonstrating their crafts including, woodcarving,spinning, soap-making, embroidery, pottery, broommaking, blacksmithing, embroidery, and many other 19th-century crafts. The Unreconstructed String Band will perform, storyteller Brian “Fox” Ellis will be there on Sunday, the Clockwork Clown will be returning, dulcimer playing, and be sure to catch the 19th-century magic show.
