Census 2020

The Census 2020 is happening RIGHT NOW! Do not forget to complete your census. You may complete this questionnaire online, by phone or through the mail. You may fill it out online at https://mycensus2020.gov/ by calling 844-330-2020 or mailing your census to U.S. Census Bureau, National Processing Center, 100 Logistics Avenue, Jeffersonville, IN 47144.

 

Mattoon Public Library

Starting June 1st, the Mattoon Public Library will be hosting a grab-and-go and curbside pickup. To request items for the Curbside pick-up, you can contact them online at mattoonlibrary.org. By email at carl@mattoonlibrary.org or by phone 217-234-2621 (Press 1). They are available Monday- Wednesday 10am- 2pm, Thursday 2pm-6pm, and Friday 10am- 2pm.

 

Girl Scouts of Central Illinois

The Girl Scouts of Central Illinois created a virtual experience for girls of all ages! Girls will be able to continue or discover their Girl Scout experience. Camp Connect will allow girls to virtually interact with other campers, engage in badge activities, get outside in their yards or neighborhoods in fun and creative ways. The Salvation Army Mobile Lunch Truck

The Salvation Army will be stopping their lunch truck in Mattoon locations Monday- Friday from June 1st– August 7th. They will be located at West Park Plaza at 11:00 am, Lakeland Mobile Estates at 11:40 am, Old State Village at 12:20 pm, Sunrise Apt at 1:00 pm, and Fit 2 Serve (14th & Lafayette) at 1:40 pm. They will not be available on July 3rd or 4th.

 

Mattoon Community Food Center

Everyone, regardless of income level, is invited to their Farmers to Families Food Box Program. Head over to 600 Moultrie at 2:30 on Thursdays for the next 5 weeks. Eastern Illinois Food Bank has prepared special boxes for you! The feature this Thursday will be a 10-pound box of produce plus some other surprises. The next weeks will offer frozen mean and dairy as well. This is entirely separate from the regular monthly food offered to their clients.

 

Food on the Move

Monday- Thursday from June 3rd to August 8th. An Eastern Illinois University vehicle will stop by at the following locations: Ne-Co Fields Park at 11:00 am, Long Acre Estates at 11:30 am, Carl Sandburg Elementary at 12:00 pm (June ONLY), and EIU Textbook Rental at 12:20 pm (June ONLY) 12:00 pm (July ONLY). You must eat lunch with them and cannot take any food home. They will not serve on July 4th or 5th.

 

Book Club

SACIS is hosting a virtual Book Club! This opportunity is open to all past and current clients. Starting June 4th at 4:00 pm. The book provided is Be Calm by Jill P. Weber, PHD. For more information contact Taylor Diskin at empowerment@sacis.org.

 

Virtual Field Trips

The Douglas- Hart Nature Center has virtual field trips available for everyone! They are also working on doing a kit and other virtual opportunities to recreate their summer camps. To get more information about the virtual field trips visit www.dhnature.org/virtual fieldtrip.html

 

Literacy Initiative

The Literacy Initiative has created a free virtual camp that students can participate in. With all the camps being forced to be closed or postponed, they are hosting virtual sessions from 9am- 5pm (Monday through Friday). Parents can sign up for specific programs if they are only interested in a couple of the programs. Currently, they are sectioned off under five main categories: STEM, The Arts, Lets Get Moving, Reading and Writing, and Influencer- Led programs. Summer Art Camp

Artsy Chic Studio is hosting Open Paint and Summer Camps. Open Paint begin this Friday by appointment only! Summer Camps will begin next week. Mattoon Drive-In Show Movies

Thursday night was the first of three night for a drive-in movie theater in the parking lot of the Cross County Mall in Mattoon. Movies will be shown at 9pm on both Friday and Saturday. The parking area will be open at 8pm Friday and Saturday and will close at 8:45pm before the 9pm show time. Local vendors are also involved, providing concessions for the attendees.

 

School Registration
