Story Time

Story and Treats

June 6 at 10am at Ballard Nature Center. Come out to Ballard Nature Center to listen to a story, participate in related activities and make a special cherry pie treat! Ainad Shriners Circus

June 6th, 7-10pm at the Effingham County Fairgrounds in Altamont. $15.00 Adult, $10.00 Children, One Adult Ticket equals two children’s tickets. Tickets are good for any performance at any location (no refunds). You can purchase tickets at the gate or at any Moto Mart or Schnucks in our area or S&W Supermarket in Altamont. VW Welcome Fest Downtown Party

June 7th, 5-8pm, downtown Effingham. All residents are invited to join in welcoming Volkswagen enthusiasts to Effingham! Mid America Motorworks: Air-Cooled Volkswagen’s Fun Run Road Tour will end in downtown Effingham with Volkswagens set to come down Jefferson Avenue around 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. We invite residents to come out for the parade of VWs!

We try to make this event something the whole family can enjoy and we hope residents and visitors alike will come down to enjoy this fun event! Activities will include food from Lickin’ My Chicken & Pullin’ My Pork BBQ, The Lunch Box, Aunt Kim’s Kettle Corn and Toppins Soft Serve, along with live musical entertainment from Fairly Odd Duo, great giveaways, a chance to win a Fujiflim Instax Mini Camera and of course, you’ll get to see a variety of Volkswagens! We have more fun planned for the kids too, including coloring books, bubbles and sidewalk chalk and FREE face painting by Stang Arts.

Watch Out Weather

June 10 at 6 pm at Ballard Nature Center. Hear about the five worst storms in US history.  There will be weather experiments and a walk.  Family program.  Call to register. 618-483-6856.

Family Campfire

June 14th, 6:30pm at Ballard Nature Center. Come out to Ballard Nature Center to learn about animals that fly in the night, play a game, make a treat and hike on a trail! This event will start at 6:30 p.m. and if you have any questions or would like to register, please call 618-483-6856.

Teutopolis KC Cruise Night

June 14th, 5:30-8:30pm at the Teutopolis KC Hall parking lot.  All vehicles welcome, Live DJ, food and refreshments available for purchase, proceeds to benefit rebuilding of Teutopolis Banquet Hall. No registration or entry fee required.

Teens Black Light Paint Party

June 14th, 5:30-7:30pm at StangArts. Bring the teens to StangARTS and let them paint in black lighting! Tickets are $30 per painter and can be found at https://stangarts.com/events/list/ . Paint at the Park with StangArts

Watercolor Paint Class

July 4th at dusk, Enjoy the City of Effingham’s annual Fireworks show on July 4th starting at dusk (around 9 p.m.) at the Effingham High School Sports Complex. Rain date: July 5.

Mustang Sally Rocks

July 4th 7:30-11pm at the Effingham Event Center.  Mustang Sally will be performing in conjunction with the City of Effingham Fireworks.

Breakfast in Nature Fundraiser

July 4th 8am at Ballard Nature Center. Come out to Ballard Nature Center for breakfast! There will be biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, donuts, fruit and a yogurt bar. Plenty of activities for the kids. Best part is the cost is only a donation!

Encore Puppet Show

July 26-27, downtown Effingham. Hometown Throwdown local competition sets the stage for a great weekend of delicious BBQ, music, food and fun! We’ll have great music, food and beverages.

Teen Volunteer Training

June 5, 10am, Effingham Library Workman Room, Ages 12-18.
