R.I.S.E. – After School Program
Every Tuesday & Thursday from 3 to 5:30 p.m at the Effingham library for students in grades 6-8. Contact the library about their new after school program, R.I.S.E., Read, Innovate, Serve, Engage. Effingham Farmers Market
Every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Downtown Effingham May through October. The Effingham Farmers Market, located on the on the Effingham County Courthouse Museum lawn, provides the Effingham community and area visitors with fresh, locally-grown food, art, live music and quality artisan goods. Summer Sundown Music Festival

The festival will be held at Larson’s Landing on Lake Sara, (7) miles west of Effingham, Illinois, on September 1-2, 2018. In addition to all these fantastic bands, we will also feature songwriter circles, a youth showcase, campfire jams, local food and craft vendors, swimming, yoga sessions, and camping.

Special Needs FALL Kickball: Jr. League
September 6th at the Gene Niccum diamond at Community Park for special needs individuals in grades K-High School. Kids from Effingham and the surrounding areas can use their abilities to play a fun game of kickball at no cost! Children can run, walk or roll in a wheelchair around the bases with a special helper if needed. A total of 4 games will be played on Tuesday Evenings in September. Harvest of Quilts

Teen Prep Party
September 7th from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at the Effingham library for students in grades 7-12. Want to help the library and earn community service hours at the same time? Join us for a Teen Prep Party where you will help us prepare for upcoming programs.*If you were NOT a teen volunteer over the summer, you must complete a volunteer application before participating in this program. Effingham Cruise Night
September 7th from 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM in downtown Effingham. An evening bringing back part of the old Effingham Cruise Route with 2-way traffic down Jefferson Avenue. Come downtown to enjoy classic cars and so much more! There will be great food, including Hi-Boy hamburgers on the Courthouse lawn, live music and wine/beer garden at Village Wine & Gifts. You can enjoy a cook-out with the Effingham Police Department at the corner of Front & Jefferson Ave. Be sure to be downtown extra early for the parade that starts at 5 p.m. from Autozone to the Downtown area. 3-D Bow Shoot

2nd Annual Rollin’ & Rockin’ for Heroes
September 8th at Legacy Harley-Davidson in Effingham. At 10 a.m. there will be registration for the Car Show, 6 different bands, food vendors, a special tent for the veterans and much more! Teen After Hours – Virtual Reality and Walking Tacos!
September 14th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Effingham library for ages 13-18. Discover a virtual world with our state-of-the-art virtual reality system on loan from Lazerware! Multiple experiences include Google Earth, Ocean Rift, The Body, Tilt Brush, Museum of Fine Art and much more! Superhero Race Challenge
September 15th at the Workman Sports Complex. This year’s Superhero Race Challenge will include a 5K walk/run, a 10K run, a kids fun run and ChipperChallenge to promote HSHS Rehabilitation Services and Workman Sports Complex. Catholic Charities Spaghetti Lunch
September 16th from 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM at the Effingham Event Center. This annual event is a fundraiser for Catholic Charities in Effingham. Joe’s Pizza & Pasta sponsors the lunch annually. Tickets will be available by mid-August at Catholic Charities, Joe’s Pizza & Pasta, from any Catholic Charities Advisory Board Member, from any Catholic Charities Staff and at the door. Bring a group of family and friends to enjoy a delicious Spaghetti lunch. Dine-In, Drive-Thru or Carry-Out is available. Corvette Welcome Fest Downtown Party
September 18th from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM in Downtown Effingham. The City of Effingham’s Tourism Office will be hosting the Corvette Welcome Fest Downtown Party to kick-off Mid America Motorworks’ 25th Annual Corvette Funfest, and residents are invited to join in welcoming Corvette enthusiasts to Effingham!

Mid America Motorworks’ Fun Run Road Tour will end in downtown Effingham, with a Corvette parade, coming down Jefferson Ave and ending at the Courthouse square. The Corvettes are expected to arrive downtown around 5:15 – 5:30 p.m. and we invite residents to come out for the Corvette parade.

Activities that evening will include food from Lickin’ My Chicken & Pullin’ My Pork BBQ and Robin’s Nest Gourmet Fare, in addition to other great sweet treats by Aunt Kim’s Kettle Corn. You can also enjoy live musical entertainment by Quick & Bradley, artisans on the Courthouse square, great giveaways, and of course, a chance to see a variety of Corvettes! Freedom Fest
September 22nd from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM at Enduring Freedom Ministries, 304 SouthWest St in Shumway. This is a free Christian Outdoor Festival. Old Settlers Reunion
September 29th at 11am at the Effingham County Courthouse Museum. The day will include: Presentation of Colors by American Legion Post 120, Historical exhibits, Caledonia Fire Truck Tractors from Mill Road Thesherman Association, Free Mule Wagon Rides by Dan Koester and his mules Tom & Jerry, Free Pictures at the Cannon, Free Facepainting by Jennifer DeWeese, Free Music from 1-3 PM at the Gazebo. Register for a $50 prize at Linda Ruholl’s Exhibit. Prizes Awarded for Oldest & Youngest Old Settlers (30 years in Effingham County to Qualify as an Old Settler). Prizes Awarded to Old Settler Couple Married the Longest. ALL May Sign in and Receive an Old Settlers Ribbon.
